Well, we are home, sort of, and it's not that relaxing to be honest. We have moved from a hotel to a dodgy apartment to a nicer apartment in Pyrmont. And shock, horror, Sydney is costing us more than any hotel or apartment in all of our European travels. But at least as you can see, we have a fantastic view of Sydney harbour and central business district, and all mod cons such as dishwasher, washing machine, dryer and wine glasses, so we are comfortable.
We are also enjoying being right on the harbour, and finally took our tall ship wine cruise that Mom & Dad gave us for our anniversary last year - see the Sydney Opera House lit up as we sail past.
Now we just have to face such everyday details as sorting out piles of bills and paperwork, buying a car, updating resumes, and WORST OF ALL, WORK!!!! We certainly didn't miss all this for 6 months : )
I went to my first business meeting yesterday which lasted two and a half hours and I tell you what, I was EXHAUSTED when I came home. No wonder work is a four letter word. Miles is very busy too looking at cars, opening electricity accounts, applying for jobs and squeezing in the odd surf.
But the good news is, my nose is healing well, and we are moving to the Northern Beaches to our house at Avalon on Saturday, October 1 - much earlier than we thought. Here begins a whole new seaside chapter. I can't wait to have a "home" again, even though we will probably start sneaking a peek at the Travel section of the newspaper any day now with a new case of wanderlust. That will be just a dream for now though because, surprise, surprise, the bank account is at a somewhat low ebb. That's where that pesky work comes in, unfortunately.
Will we keep blogging? Probably not. Our lives will certainly be duller now, so you will not want to follow us anymore as we wash clothes, eat beans on toast, mow the lawn and take out the rubbish : ) But thank you to all who went with us in spirit on our journey. We appreciate you following our overseas adventure and we look forward to catching up with you via email, snail mail. facebook, phone, or a drop-in visit to North Avalon if you are in the neighbourhood.
If we have any advice to give after our 6 month break, it is this. If you are dreaming of doing something, even if it seems crazy, or not so sensible, or you think you might put it off until the kids are at university or the mortgage is paid off or you retire, stop talking about it and just do it. The biggest regret you may have is if you don't.
Love to all, Tammy & Miles
